A Walk in the Woods

Despite the rain last night we still went ahead with the ghost walk in Parsonage woods, Castle Coombe!! As I set off I thought to myself "I must be crazy!!"

After a short wait for Maria, James and Loretta to arrive, we set off down towards the village and asked a few bemused villages where the woods are... The first trail we set off on came to an abrupt halt as a tree was down and blocking the path so we about turned and went to the other end of the village and picked up the path from that side. As we made our climb into he woods despite the fact I was dressed well for the weather and properly attired I could not believe how slippery it was underfoot!!

We went deeper into the woods and the ground got worse and worse. James was the first to loose his balance, Then it was my turn and went over straight away again as soon as I stood up!! Well, at least it was a soft landing...

It seemed we were walking forever but the track was taking us away from the woods and we ended up on a road which pointed to Castle Coombe back the way we came. Some of the members present were not happy with the thought of going back through the woods so we let the younger members try to lead us back by road. But despite our efforts to get them to realise that this was not the way home we ended up putting our foot down and going back the way we came.

The walk back through the woods didn't seem to take half the time and soon we were back in the village.

when we got back to the cars we all dried off and headed home...

On our walk we decided to go back in May time when it will be lighter in the evening. We sort of know where we are going now and even though not many ghosts came out to play last night (who'd blame them in that weather!!) We saw many frogs and had a brilliant laugh..
