Private Investigation

DOWNTON INVEST REPORT

24th Jan 2009

The team arrived at a private residence in Downton at 7.30The property is a lovely cottage dating from 1780s. Up until a severe flood in the 1900s was previously a public house known as 'The Free n Easy'

We were greeted warmly by the owner Mary who ushered us inside and we were greeted by a lovely friendly Dog and a bouncy fluffy pup

The cottage rooms had low ceilings with large old oak beams and was a very warm cosy and welcoming atmosphere

In the lounge we were introduced to Mary's daughter and a couple of friends that were joining us for the evening all who seemed to be excited at the prospect of possibly seeing or hearing something paranormal, we had a short chat while waiting for a couple of others to arrive, were Mary explained a little of the History of the property,A previous owner, whom they believed was named Sarah or Sally had committed suicide in the property, she was known to be an alcoholic in the village, it was rumoured she had taken her life after a period of depression following her husband leaving her,

once everyone had arrived we took a look around the cottage viewing each room, all very nice.

Maria asked us if we felt anything in each room that we entered, one room set up as an office seemed to fell a little different but couldn't quite get what i was feeling, in the bathroom it seemed to have a heavy feeling Chris said he felt a bit woozy in there, but other wise the rooms seemed peaceful

we returned to the lounge were it was decided that we would start investigation with some glass divination in two rooms some in the adjoining dinning room and some of us in the lounge, we opened by saying a protection and surrounded ourselves with white light.

Maria, Chris and myself with two others in the lounge.

Maria began asking out, after a short time the glass did start to move in a circular clockwise direction then stopping in front of each of us individually, we took this as a request for us to introduce ourselves which we did the glass continued moving.

Maria asked if it was the spirit of the woman called Sarah or Sally the glass continued moving slowing down almost as if it was thinking about it, but quickly sped up again

we continued for a while and asked if there any other spirits present with the one we had contact using the sheets with yes, no, goodbye written on them we were able to get a better response

and was told yes it then moved to goodbye, the glass returned to centre of the table Maria asked again if any spirits were present the glass moved Maria asked if they wanted to talk to us it moved to no then to goodbye,

Maria asked us casually shall we go upstairs to which the glass moved to yes. so a few of them went upstairs to the bathroom to see if anything would happen,

The glass divination was continuing in the dining room and were seeming to have a better response which after a while they had managed to discern that they said they were in contact with a spirit of a young boy in his teens, he had been working with his father carrying bricks and mortar for him but had killed in an accident while helping to build a house.

Meanwhile upstairs they were still waiting for things to happen. Chris stayed in the lounge while i went to the other rooms upstairs taking pictures staying in each room on my own for a while to see if anything would happen but got no response in any room when i asked out.

returning back down stairs i continued to take pictures a few orbs/light anomalies were present in a few photos sitting on the sofa talking to Chris i accidently took a picture, this turned out to be the best pic of the evening with as brilliant sun like light anomaly in it,

Everyone returned downstairs, and commented on how bright the anomaly was. at this point it was decided to have a coffee break with a few nibbles that Mary had kindly provided.

We all decided to try Table tipping in the dinning room to attempt to contact the spirit of the boy they had previously encountered, The dining table was large and heavy everyone stood around with there hands resting on it.

After a while there was very faint knocks to questions Maria was asking but they didn't get any stronger when asked to try harder, after about an hour we retried this in the lounge using a small coffee table but to no effect,

we closed the evening with thanks to Mary and her hospitality and kindly letting us investigate her lovely home.
