Tonight, Dave and I found ourselves very privileged guests on the Ghomats of Devizes investigation at a secret location in the wonderful historic town of Devizes.
We were invited by a person who had experienced some strange goings at the premises over a number of years to come and see if we could piece together some sort of explanation to what was causing (or who) some of incidents she had experienced. Some of her experiences had also been witnessed or heard by others at the site.
The building had 4 floors. One of which was a very eerie cellar.
After an initial tour of the building, we split into 2 groups. Mine and Dave’s group headed upstairs whilst the other team went to the cellar.
The very top floor had a very horrible heavy atmosphere which was evident the minute you walked into the room. We decided that this would be a great room to start in. Dave and I are trialling a new piece of equipment called a ghost box. We decided to try this out first so we set it up and started to call out. Initially we did get a name almost straight away by using this device, however I felt that the ghost box can be very noisy and I felt that it was preventing us from hearing any other forms of communication that may occur such as taps or knocks.
We then decided to use some divining rods and a crystal pendulum. While Chris and Christine were doing this experiment, I captured lots of light anomalies around Helen. Dave’s camera and also another member of the team also picked up the light anomalies at the same time. We became aware of an energy building in the corner of the room. This we sensed was male. However this presence was not stepping forward and soon the energy seemed to tail off again.
At this point Chris and some of the others decided to go to another room, so myself, Dave, Helen and Christine decided to stay in the room and try some channelling. While we were talking we did get some very loud taps in the corner of the room where we were. We tried to get some energy to build up but we felt after 10 minutes or so that the energy had definitely gone.
We decided to move to the cellar. There were 4 small sections in the cellar so we positioned ourselves into 3 of them and kept an eye on the 4th. Helen and Christine felt that there was an energy building up behind them. I started to call out to see if I could encourage some sort of response. As Helen, Christine and Chris felt that the energy was building up behind them, we all trained our cameras on that area of the room. From behind me and Dave a small object was thrown and hit the wall which made quite a loud noise. I asked if this could be repeated as the cellar was very old and the object could easily have been a loose bit of plaster falling from the ceiling. About 2 minutes later another object was thrown which made an even louder noise. It was at this point that Dave and I suddenly became aware of a very strong energy building up behind us but almost as soon as it came, it was gone again. We stayed for a further 5 minutes or so but nothing else happened.
We moved onto the alleyway just outside the building. Dave discovered that what we thought was a fence was in fact gates which lead to another part of the building which is now not used. Further investigation uncovered another large room with steps down to a cellar and also stairs that lead up to another 2 floors. After Chris, Dave Tracey had investigated this other unused part of the building, we all grouped together to put our findings together.
We did come up with similar or same names which are to be checked and verified. We also felt that the building was dominated by a male spirit which had quite an aggressive oppressive nature. Alongside this spirit were also children that had been heard singing or laughing in the alley at times. It was also mentioned that running was heard outside in the alley also. Before this information was shared, it was felt that there was a spirit of a young boy present in the alley whose job was to deliver messages to places so he would have had to of run to get the message delivered with promptly.
I would like to thank Chris Franklin for inviting Dave and I along to a fantastic investigation.
