Saturday 13th April 2013

This month’s investigation took us back to a place we had investigated before and was a place we were all very eager to revisit.

This location is in a picturesque town in Wiltshire which exact location is to remain a secret at the wishes of the owners.

We started the investigation with Dave and I arriving slightly earlier to prepare some of the experiments and to take some base line readings. We also had a guest with us this evening who we met just before everyone else arrived so we could answer any questions he may have before we started.

Shortly after 8pm the whole team had arrived so we started by giving a tour of the building and then split into 2 groups.

Our team went down stairs and started our investigation in the antechamber and team 2 stayed upstairs in the main hall.

We had felt drawn to the antechamber on our tour around the building earlier so I was very eager to start. One of the team mediums (Pete) picked up on the presence of lady downstairs while we were in the main hall. This some of us know as true however the exact meaning of his statement was not explained to him at this time. Pete also said that he had sensed a male of some stature who comes striding out of the door next to the kitchen upstairs.

Antechamber

We set up some video cameras in the antechamber and I also set up a digital voice recorder. We positioned ourselves around the table in the room and turned most of the lights out. As we sat still I thought I saw someone walking from the front door to my left into the small hall in my peripheral vision. This was visible through a glass porch like structure. I turned my head to look but there was no one there. I started to call out to see if there were any spirit people with us. As always, not much happens to begin with as it takes a while to get the energy building up sufficiently. We sat and listened to Pete who had picked up a few things. I asked out again and was shortly greeted by a large knock in the middle of the table. Pete picked up on a male spirit person stood to the right of me who he described as being quite short and in his 50’s who wasn’t a particularly happy person. Pete went on to explain that this gentleman was disappointed in himself for not achieving his goals in life. I noticed that all the while Pete was talking, there were slight taps coming from the table as if in agreement. When I spoke, there was nothing. Chris, our other medium decided to ask out. The previous time we investigated this building we had a lot of small stones thrown at us in the upstairs area. He asked that if there were any spirit people around, could they do that again. He was to get his wish, just a little later on.

While we were talking among ourselves, Netty thought she saw a light travel along the ceiling. Chris then asked out to request that any spirit people listening, could they do something for the team upstairs? He also asked who Jacob was. Chris had been given this name while he was upstairs and again when we came downstairs. As we were discussing this we heard another loud knock in the middle of our table. Pete turned to our guest and said that this spirit person knew him. Pete gave a name and it was confirmed that our guest did know them.

I sensed that the energy had changed and welcomed the new spirit. I asked if the spirit person could tap on the table if they were happy we were there. We were thankful to hear a tap in reply. We asked a series of questions which were met by some very loud knocks in response. This spirit was very strong. I got movement by the front door in my peripheral vision again. As we were communicating with the spirit person, Pete picked up that there were 5 others standing watching us. We continued to communicate with this spirit for a while longer and then felt the energy fade. Very quickly another spirit stepped forward and I could sense the difference in this person. Chris picked up the words ‘in time of war’. When he spoke this out loud there was a series of very loud knocks from the table and the table moved quite considerably. Chris asked the spirit to move the table back and it obliged. Chris asked if the spirit person could lift the table for us. We felt like the table was shuddering but it didn’t lift. It suddenly slid to one side instead. Chris asked for the table to be moved in his direction which the table did almost immediately. Chris then asked the spirit to move the table to his right (as he had moved the table up and down) Pete spoke out and said the spirit has asked “why?” Chris replies “why not?” We all laughed and the table moved to Chris right. We got a name for the spirit person who was known to our guest also. Our guest asked if the spirit was with his father. We felt that immediately the energy had dispersed. I felt that the spirit had gone to get our guests father.

I sensed another spirit stepping forward but this one was different. It felt smaller and I sensed it wasn’t to do with the building as it is used for today but more rather, from an era when it was used to seeing a lot of children. As I watched the video footage back just as I say that there is another spirit stepping forward, a light anomaly whizzes passed my right shoulder. I invite the spirit to step forward and sensing its reluctance I said that we wouldn’t be cross with the spirit for standing back and watching us. With that there was a small but definite knock in the middle of the table. I asked if the spirit was a little boy. Pete said “7 I’m 7”. I asked “Are you lost?” Knock (was the reply). I asked “Do you need our help?” We got a faint knock in reply. I asked “Are you looking for your mummy?” We got a distinct rap in reply. We picked up a name which we were to discover the team upstairs also would pick up on when they investigated this room later. We asked the spirit boy if he would like our help crossing over. Pete said that the boy wanted Chris to do it. Chris proceeded in guiding the child across to the other side which is always emotional so at this point we decided now would be a good time to take a break and swap areas.

Main hall

After our break team 2 went down to the antechamber, and we set up in the main hall. Previously we had a lot of activity in this area. We set up a glass divination experiment which proved to be not very successful. It felt at one stage as if the glass was trying to move but whatever response we got was very weak and sluggish. While Pete was asking out to see if there were any spirit people willing to communicate with us, I distinctly heard what I thought was Dave clearing his throat. I asked Dave (as he was not sat with us at the table but a few yards away filming us) if it was him and he said it wasn’t. Watching the footage you can hear this noise and see my reaction as I wait for a polite gap to ask. Pete also heard the noise and was given a name. As we asked out for some type of response, Pete suddenly stated that something had picked up his camera (which was around his neck) which I must admit I did see but as it was dark I thought it was just where Pete had moved causing the camera to move. Netty also said she thought Pete had moved it too. Pete said it wasn’t him. Netty then exclaimed she thought the table moved. We then heard a stone drop next to us (something that has happened before). I described what the stone would most likely look like and when we found it, it was as expected. The stone is white; roughly 1cm in diameter and nothing like the plaster on the ceiling. We asked if the spirit could throw a stone again. As we were asking out we heard 3 distinctive taps next to us on the floor.

We decided to stop the glass experiment and just placed our hands on the table instead. I continued to call out. As we were waiting for a response you can hear on the video footage a stone falling and bouncing on the floor boards. Pete asks “was that you dropping something Dave?” Dave replied that it was not and that whatever it was had hit him on the back of the leg. As we were looking for the stone it suddenly dawned on me that it sounded more like a coin. I went to the window sill where I had some coins on a piece of card to see if they would attract any curious ghost who may try to move them. All the coins were still on the card so I walked back over to Dave. It was now that some marbles caught my eye that was down a hole in the floor where Dave was sat. I said that it sounded like it could have been one of them. Pete said that he knew there was a child in there with us.

Chris asks out this time. After about 3 minutes of silence, Pete is given another name. At this point my video tape ran out so I went to change it. As I was changing the tape over we had another stone thrown at us. Chris then throws one of the stones back down the other end of the room and asks if the spirit can throw the stone back. Pete turns to me and asks me if my video camera has night vision on it. As I get up to show him that not only do I have night vision on the cam but also an extra infrared torch a large stone hits my chair. This slightly worried me as if hadn’t of got up that second, I would have been hit on the head by the stone. Chris asks again for the spirit to return a stone that he has thrown down the other end of the room. For the next 20 minutes not much else happened. Dave thinks he saw movement down the far end of the room. Chris asked the spirit again to throw the stone back that he had thrown down there earlier. We started to get some strange but distinct taps coming from the far end of the room. As Dave went down to investigate we then got another stone thrown at us. I asked the spirit if, they could throw or materialise stones at us, could they try to move one of the coins. I asked if they could make one of the coins materialise on the table in front of us. Dave felt that there was a dark area developing down the far end of the room. We thought for one moment that we saw some ghostly lights at the far end of the room. However, it turned out to be somebodies mobile phone flashing in their bag. As the energy had gone quite flat, we decided to go and join the team downstairs.

Antechamber

We had a little chat with the other team and they were shocked to find we had picked up on a spirit called Robert. They all gasped. They also picked up on a Robert; however, this child was a bit older at 14 years. Team 2 had also been using a planchett which is a device that is used for spirit writing. They had picked up a few things with this such as a name, a date and some other information that is sensitive. As we settled around the table and switched out the light, our guest saw someone where I had previously seen someone earlier in the evening. He really thought it was one of the team.

As soon as I asked out we got a loud tap in the middle of the table. We offered a few names to see if we had a spirit that we had spoken too before but the answer was always no. We had a strong spirit that didn’t want to share its name; however, it was very keen to join in. When Pete asked if the spirit was just visiting, we got a knock. Pete asked if the spirit was here for someone in the room and to move the table in their direction. We asked a series of questions, all without a response. We asked a few more generic questions like “were you connected with the building? Were you local?” While we were asking these questions we heard a strumming noise on the table as if the spirit was drumming their fingers impatiently. I asked if the spirit person recognised anyone around the table, and to knock in front of that person. With that there was a loud knock in front of me. I said “oh, no, not me”! “I don’t believe you and I think you are playing” We didn’t really get any answers to who this person was and didn’t get a name.

At this point we had started to talk among ourselves and started to laugh. With that there was a massive bang in the middle of the table which got our attention. I asked if the spirit could move the table or to lift it up. We felt the table shift a bit and then someone noticed that the door had opened slightly. We invited the spirit in. The table started to move again. WE asked if he spirit could lift the table. Chris then asked if anybody else was in the room with us, could they lift the table. The table did start to shudder and moved. Chris asked for the table to be moved towards his voice. We got a series of knocks that you can really hear on the video footage and the table moved. We tried to get a name from the spirit again and eventually Pete got a name. When he said the name we got a massive knock in the middle of the table. I felt like something was touching my knee under the table (Dave promises It was not him) which I didn’t like at all. (Steph later said that she felt like she was touched on the shoulder but didn’t want to say anything at the time as she thought she was being silly). The table shifted slightly while we were talking among ourselves again so Pete asked for the spirit to lift the table. Maria asked if the spirit could make the noise they had heard earlier. (They had heard 2 hissing sounds). It went quiet. I heard a weird noise that to me sounded like a tummy rumbling. No one owned up to it however. On the video footage at this point you can hear a strange whistling noise. We all started to laugh and we heard a massive knock again.

We were all in a jolly mood that seemed to get the energy moving. The table shifted quite considerably which it did twice. WE asked for the table to be returned to its original position. Dave noticed that the door had opened more. Our guest saw someone by the door again and Maria confirmed she had too. I asked for the spirits to do something stunning. We heard a strange noise. There was another loud knock on the middle of the table. I then asked for the spirit to do something amazing. Little did we realise that while we were talking among ourselves the table had been lifting on our side and we only realised this when the table banged back down on the floor. Pete and a few of the others felt an icy cold breeze whip around them and some of the team saw a shadow move into the small room next to the antechamber.

We decided after this that it was getting late and that we had better clear up. As some of the team got up and left the table Myself, Maria, Andrew and Pete were still around the table and it shifted considerably again. This it did a couple of times which we found amazing as it was a very heavy table and only a few of us around it.

Also during this investigation, I got many light anomalies on video; I captured some EVP (electronic voice phenomena) on my digital voice recorder and also on video tape. Most of this was at the end session in the antechamber. The first EVP I thought was Maria or Sharon who I could hear say “shhhhh, be quiet!” while we were calling out. This turned out to be neither of them. The second is a strange whistling noise you can hear twice. This is on both the digi recorder and video.

After our first Vigil, we had left the antechamber to go upstairs. I was shocked to find the outside door shut. (I had left it open) A few people in our team said they heard it close during our first session in the antechamber. I asked team 2 if they had closed it but nobody had.

I had set up 3 trigger object experiments which I mentioned earlier in the report. The trigger objects for this experiment were coins placed on a card in a cross formation. I had drawn around the coins so we could see if any of the coins had moved. With the 2 experiments downstairs the coins did not move. However, the coins did move on the experiment upstairs in the main hall.

Lastly, after we had cleaned up and finished the investigation, our guest took one more look around the place before locking up. ALL lights were off. Pete said that he was met in the car park about 10 minutes later by our much shaken guest who had driven passed the building after locking up and noticed the lights were on. He had to go back inside to switch them all off again.

I would like to thank everyone who attended this investigation and helped make it an amazing evening and also say how very grateful we are to of been given permission to investigate this amazing building. The ghosts were very eager to play.
