Investigation Southampton
On 13th September 2013, a few of us had the privilege to take part in an investigation in Southampton.
Once we had a safety talk and tour with the lead team Haunted Southampton, we then split into smaller groups and were allowed the run of the place. Maria, Andrew, Dave and I opted to start in the theatre which was the former locations chapel.
We joined a few others also on the investigation and set about trying to communicate with the spirit board. We did get quite a strong spirit come through quite quickly which said he liked us and called himself Louis and he was 37 years old. He said that he was killed at the location and named a character called Mully. Louis also mentioned a lady called Gill; another man called Robert and mentioned Vodka though we don't really know why. He also wanted to know why we investigated haunted places. During our séance something hard was thrown which sounded like a coin. This really sounds up on the digital recorder. Louis said it was Mr Roberts that threw it at us. Louis also told us that he wanted Justice. He also spelled out Jilted must go, went to goodbye and the séance abruptly ended. We decided to go and see if we could find what was thrown at us. We tried to encourage more activity but nothing else happened.
We then decided to go and have a wander through the corridors. We went to an area where the men would have slept when it was a work house and tried to encourage some activity. I did capture 2 light anomalies on the video camera but nothing else. Maria tried to use her video camera but it would not load the tape. Andrew tried using his spirit box to see if we could get any communication through that but again there was no activity.
We located to another room along the corridor. This had a totally different atmosphere and we decided to try some table tipping in there. I set up my camera and arranged a table for us to sit around. Just as we started though, my camera and infra-red torch switched off. We called out to see if we could get any spirit activity going and it felt very promising to begin with. Again, nothing much happened in this room which was very disappointing.
After a break we decided to investigate the morgue. The morgue was situated under what is now the coffee shop. We were warned there is a horrible smell down there which despite numerous painting and redecorating in the rooms, they just cannot get rid of. As we descended down the steps you couldn't help notice the smell or rot and decay. I went into one of the rooms and tried calling out again. We didn't get much spirit activity but I did capture numerous orbs on video camera. When we moved to the next room the same happened again, no audible activity but definite light anomalies. We could also see Orbs on the closed circuit TV the other team had set up in the cafe' on the screens down in the morgue.
Our next room was one of the class rooms on the 2nd story. We again did not get any spirit activity in this room or any light anomalies.
To finish, we decided to go and sit quietly back in the theatre while another team were holding a séance. During this I captured again lots of light anomalies on video camera and witnessed the team having something thrown at them like our team did in the beginning.
To cap this investigation off, the building held such promise but in reality did not deliver. We felt that the fabric of the building had been altered so much, there was very little of the soul left of the former building which maybe is a good thing. The most active area for us was the theatre and I was not surprised to learn this room was the least re-developed. We also felt that the amount of people on this investigation may of been slightly counterproductive. Still onward and upward and we are all looking forward to our next investigation.
